We take pride in raising our babies in hopes that they will become our future stars or perhaps yours!

August 2009- Is there a cold front in the near future? We are melting here in Texas. I have friends that are in Ohio and Vermont who have high's in the 80's right now. I bring our broodmare up occasionally, rinse them off, give them fresh fly spray and treats. It is our famous Broodmare Summer Spa package! Most of these mares were show horses so they appreciate the pampering.

July 2009- We just sadly heard that Babcock Ranch had to put down Elan's Playboy. What a great horse he was. We are so grateful to have a filly born by Elan this year. And she is the only registered paint filly by him!

June 2009- We wish to give a big thanks to Kayla Starnes for doing a fantastic job taking photos of our horses on the ranch. Please visit her at www.kstarnesphotography.com

We are finally taking a breath from breeding season. Knock on wood, we got everyone in foal so far! Please feel free at anytime to ask us what we have arriving next year.

May 2009- Just got our 2009 APHA Rule book in the mail. Daisy and her 2008 baby are on the cover! It is a photo of them grazing in our pasture.

April 2009- Daisy had a beautiful colt by Easy Otie Whiz that has us all scratching our heads. We cannot guess what color he is going to turn out. One thing is for sure, this little guy has Sabino paint markings all over him. This will make him the first double registered Easy Otie Whiz out there! What a cutie!

March 2009- Babies are starting to hit the ground, but one pending birth in particular was making me nervous. My retired show mare Molly, who is a daughter of Gunner, was due with her first baby. Turns out I was fretting for no reason. Molly foaled a beautiful palomino filly by Wimpy with no troubles at all. She loves her new baby!

December 2008- We added a yearling filly to our show prospects, "Crome Plated Gun". Have always wanted to try a Custom Crome filly and this one is out of a proven mare line we know and really like. Her half sister, Miss Smokin Rose made the Limited Open Finals this year at the Futurity.

The RR Star 3 year old we raised "This Chics A Star" out of Smokin Chic made the Limited Open Finals at the Futurity also. He as really grown up to be a handsome guy. He is now in training with Andrea Fappani.

I have lots of work ahead of me finalizing registrations and enrollments. This year has gone by so fast!

November 2008- Our Non Pro Futurity run did not go as planned. Nick got little Timmy too tired before we showed him. He just did not fire in the show pen.  Good news is someone saw him riding around and referred us to a wonderful Non Pro who fell in love with Timmy and bought him. He is going to a great home, cannot wait to hear how they do as a team.

October 2008- Nick and Timmy made the Limited Non Pro Finals at the Southwest Futurity.

September 2008- Busy shreading and planting oats and Rye. Praying for enough rain to make a good stand.

August 2008- Hot, hot hot here in Texas.

July 2008- Timmy's First Show!

Timmy  "Smoke This Chic" and Nick showed in the Non-Pro Futurity at the Waco Hot Money Show. This was his first show.  He won $470 and we know what to go back and work on now! Timmy is Sly's full brother, only he is a APHA breeding stock.

Update on our best buddy: Sly "Smart Smokin Chic" has never felt right to us in his right front foot.  Previously he  x-rayed sound, has the best vet and farrier care, but almost always -1/2 his right spin and his right circles are not as comfortable. Finally he graded really sore after the APHA World Show and he was not himself at all. We had a MRI done and it showed us all sorts of stuff this poor guy has been going through for a long time. We now have the best team of vets working on him  Sly is on his way to recovery. It always amazes me what these horses will do for us.  Sly has always willingly given us his best and been extremely pleasant to work with. All along he has had issues we could never pinpoint until now hopefully.

Recovery time in the yard is not that bad!!!

June 2008- World Show

Yeah!!!

Sly and Nick are 2008 Reserve World Amateur Reining Champions.

Callie, "Dun It With A Rooster" won $570 in the Paint Derby Challenge.

May 2008

Daisy had a nice Spooks Gotta Gun stud colt.

April 2008- NRBC!

Had two gorgeous babies born this month.  A Gunner filly by Dixie, and a Big Chex To Cash stud colt by Nikki.  Had a great show at the NRBC.  Nick marked a 216 and missed the Non Pro finals by half a point! Nick and Sly still showed great in the finals placing 3rd in the Limited Non Pro, and 5th in the Intermediate finals. They came home with two NRBC coolers, a custom painted NRBC mirror and $7,000. Besides a rain storm one day, the weather was very nice at the show this year and it was great to catch up with friends.

March 2008- Magazine Cover!

Nick and Sly made the cover of the March Quarter Horse News Magazine. Nice interview inside about the Ft. Worth Stock Show.

Feb. 2008- Waco Derby. First babies arrive!

Nick and Smart Smokin Chic won all three divisions of the Non Pro Derby in Waco this month.  Then on Feb.19th,  Sheza Beautiful Chic foaled a loud colored palomino overo stud colt with 2 blue eyes.  This colt is double registered. We also sold Color Coded Peppy to Angelika in Germany. They are going to make a great team!

Jan. 2008- Stock Show- Great start for 2008!

Just got back from the Fort Worth Stock Show. What a way to start the 2008 show season! Nick won the NRHA Non-Pro, and APHA Amateur class on Smart Smokin Chic marking a 146.5.  They won some money and a Bronze. Then Nick won the AQHA, placed second in the Non- Pro and APHA Amateur class on Click On Chic marking a 145.

December 2007- Favorite time of year!

Had a great Christmas with my family.  Time to relax and give all the horses a well deserved break. Got to see one of the APHA commercials that has Nick and I on it.  They have Nick stopping Sly and me loping circles at the very end on Daisy.  Well, you cannot see me, only Daisy which is fine by me! Got to finally purchase a double registered mare I have wanted for years. "Chics Holiday" is now in our broodmare band. We are so excited to bring her home.  Thanks Lillian for the opportunity to finally own her!

November 2007- Futurity time- Yeah!

What a Futurity show.  We sold our RR Star weanling colt to Andrea Fappani. It was sad to see him go, but cannot wait to see how he does with Andrea!  Wish I was only selling horses, I added to our herd also this month. We bought "Sheza Beauty Too" and her Custom Crome yearling son.  What a nice mare, see our broodmare section for more info on her.  This is our first Custom Crome to ever own also. He is certainly a nice prospect, cannot wait to get him started under saddle.

August 2007- Tulsa Slide Show

Wow! Just got back from the Tulsa Slide Zone Show. They asked us if we would donate Molly my Gunner mare (Dazzling Top Gun) in the Charity Slide Off to see who slides the furthest. Mike McIntire rode Molly to the victory. She was only doing what she does best, stop hard and long.  The other riders demanded a run off and they all ran again to the other end of the pen with Molly leaving them behind once more. Molly won over $3,000 for a local charity. Thank goodness something good came out of the show, becuase the next morning when I went to show Molly, it was a wreck. She apparently thought we were in a slide off again and took off on all my run downs!         Other good news, we hauled pregnant Daisy ( Joes Two Eyed Stinger) to Louisiana to finish up the show season.  She won the Novice Horse class, a pewter and won the year end award. Brought her home, gave her a kiss and pulled her shoes.  She was not sure what to do about retirement at first. After all, who is going to wash and condition that pretty mane now? Daisy is carrying a "Spooks Gotta Gun" sire/dam baby.

July 2007- Paint World Show!

What a great Paint World Show. 2 World Championships! It was hot as usual and the weather was horrible. It rained the entire show, so warm up was a challenge for everyone.  Casey Deary won the Senior Reining for us on Molly (Dazzling Top Gun) What a great run.  The next weekend, I lead the prelims on Molly with a 219. The next day, she tried so hard for me but trotted out of a roll back. No doubt this day belonged to Nick and Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) They totally blew me away with a beautiful run. Nick and Sly won the Amateur Reining. Enjoyed watching the 3 year old reining challenge, the horses are getting more tough every year!

June 2007- Photo Shoot

Nick and I did a Photo Shoot for APHA. I was riding Daisy (Joes Two Eyed Stinger) and Nick was on Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) Who knows, maybe we will pop up in some ads somewhere!

May 2007

Our first NRHA Derby trip. Nick and Sly placed 3rd in the Limited Non-Pro Derby. What a blast!

April 2007- NRBC and Babies

Nick and Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) won Reserve Limited Non Pro at the NRBC!!!  I was so proud of both of them, they worked so hard to get there. We also had mares start to foal during the show of course. Everyone did a great job.  Smokin Chic had a palomino overo filly by Big Chex To Cash. DA Steady Chex had a sire/dam RR Star overo stud colt.  Dixie foaled a sire/dam Spooks Gotta Gun filly for us.

Jan. 2007- Stock Show

Nick and Jordan Donnelly tied to win the Non-Pro and Int. Non-Pro class at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Nick also won the APHA Amateur class.  Nick won his first NRHA bronze trophy!

December 2006- Paint Vegas

Wrapped up the NRHA Futurity and packed for our show trip to Vegas.  I have barely been out of Texas and now I am driving with my husband to Vegas? It was APHA's first time to have a show like this with this much added money in the reining so we wanted to make sure and support it .  Nick and I tied each other as Co- Champions. APHA did a nice write up about us and how we support each other with showing and preparing our horses. What a priceless trip this was! Nick got us home to Texas safely, ice storms and all.
